Kids who have seizures during the school day, sometimes need a little more time to finish their work. It is important to take the correct steps towards making this happen for them. Schedule an appointment for a developmental assessment: a full review of your medical history and a detailed neurological evaluation. If needed our staff will assist with 504 plans and IEPs. It is important to understand that these children aren’t just goofing off or being lazy when experiencing a seizure. They just need a little more time. Seizures are only a small part of their lives. During most of the school day and their time at home, they do the same things everyone else is doing, they run around, play, watch tv, and have plenty of other friends too. Having epilepsy doesn’t stop them from doing anything. They just need to be a little more careful.
